Record And Preserve Cultural Heritage

The Interregional Academy of Personnel Management deliver lots of projects to record and preserve intangible cultural heritage such as local folklore, traditions, language, and knowledge.

IAPM frequently organizes various events such as theatrical performances, exhibitions, symposiums, and more. In 2024 alone, over 30 performances were held.

IAPM highly values the documentation and preservation of cultural heritage at the local, regional, and national levels. We are implementing a project dedicated to recording and safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, including local folklore, traditions, language, and knowledge — as well as the heritage of displaced communities.

The IAPM Library features a Rare Books Department, which allows visitors to explore its collections both physically and digitally. This department holds around 400 volumes, which form part of the national cultural heritage and provide access to unique materials, including rare books, archival documents, and manuscripts.

Here are some rare editions available in the IAPM Library:

  • “The Ostroh Bible, 1581” (reprint edition);
  • “Ukraine – The Cossack State”, an illustrated history of Ukrainian Cossacks featuring 5,175 photographs;

Projects to record and preserve local and regional cultural heritage

The preservation and revitalization of Ukraine’s intangible cultural heritage at both the local and regional levels. The Academy consistently organizes a wide range of cultural events and educational projects aimed at maintaining traditional Ukrainian customs, folklore, and community spirit.

Among these initiatives are festive celebrations such as Christmas caroling (kolyadky), New Year’s songs (shchedrivky), and Andriyivski vechornytsi — traditional Ukrainian gatherings filled with folk music, dances, and age-old rituals. These events serve not only as a means of preserving ancient customs but also as opportunities for students, faculty members, and guests to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Ukrainian folk traditions, cultural authenticity, and national color.

The Andriyivski Vechornytsi celebration, in particular, has become a cherished occasion that allows participants to experience the richness of Ukrainian cultural heritage firsthand. The event is organized with the purpose of supporting and popularizing national traditions, fostering the cultural awareness of students, and strengthening the sense of community within the Academy in a festive and informal setting.

Students of the Khmelnytskyi College of Economics and Law and the IAPM Institute also took part in the folk and ethnographic festival “From Christmas to Epiphany.” This event showcases the beauty and diversity of Ukrainian winter traditions, featuring performances that reflect the spirit of the festive season — from joyful carols to Epiphany rituals.

The Epiphany (Vodokhreshcha), celebrated on January 19, marks one of the most important religious and cultural holidays in Ukraine. It symbolizes the baptism of Jesus Christ and the spiritual purification of believers. On this day, people bless water and often participate in the traditional ice-water immersion, a custom that represents renewal, faith, and resilience — values deeply rooted in Ukrainian culture.

Through such initiatives and active participation in regional festivals, IAPM plays a vital role in safeguarding and promoting Ukraine’s living traditions. By integrating cultural education into academic and community life, the Academy ensures that the values, artistry, and spirit of Ukrainian heritage continue to inspire future generations.

Sataniv is a picturesque historic town located in the Khmelnytskyi region of Ukraine. Known for its rich cultural and architectural heritage, it stands as one of the oldest settlements in Podillia. The town is famous for its medieval fortress, ancient synagogue, mineral springs, and charming landscapes that attract historians, tourists, and artists alike.

The Interregional Academy of Personnel Management has contributed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Sataniv by organizing a scientific conference dedicated to this unique town. During the event, researchers and students discussed the historical significance, architectural monuments, and traditions of Sataniv, emphasizing the importance of protecting and popularizing Ukraine’s cultural treasures.

IAPM annually celebrates the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks, honoring the courage, freedom, and spirit of the Cossack era. This celebration serves as an important reminder of the country’s rich history and national pride.

Through these events, IAPM helps preserve Ukrainian traditions and cultural heritage, fostering patriotism and love for the homeland among students and the wider community.

To celebrate the cultural richness of each region of Ukraine, the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management regularly invites local artisans and artists to its regional institutes to share traditional crafts such as embroidery, pottery, and others. Through these activities, the Academy helps preserve and document intangible cultural heritage — traditions, stories, and skills that reflect the unique legacy of Ukraine’s diverse regions.

Projects to record and preserve national cultural heritage

The Department of Philology at the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management organizes various educational activities aimed at promoting the proper use and preservation of the Ukrainian language, implements research projects, provides consultations, and hosts cultural events.

 1. Every year, on the occasion of the National Day of Literacy and Language, the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management holds a traditional radio dictation. This event brings together students, teachers, and staff in a shared effort to celebrate the Ukrainian language and its role in national culture.

The main goal of the radio dictation is to preserve and promote the Ukrainian language, highlight the importance of its correct and careful use, and inspire respect for its beauty, richness, and expressiveness. It serves not only as a test of literacy but also as a symbol of unity and cultural pride.

2. IAPM conducts individual consultations on the Ukrainian language according to specific target groups. In particular, the consultations are designed for:

  • local residents who wish to improve their knowledge of the Ukrainian language and enhance their language culture in everyday communication;
  • students of primary, middle, and high school, to help them develop language skills, improve literacy, and prepare for academic and examination challenges;
  • foreigners who want to learn Ukrainian for study, work, or communication in a Ukrainian-speaking environment.

The main goal of these consultations is to promote the Ukrainian language, support linguistic culture, and foster the integration of different groups into a shared cultural and educational space.

3. The International Petro Yatsyk Ukrainian Language Competition was held at the Khmelnytskyi Institute of IAPM on October 31, 2024. The event brought together second-year students of the Khmelnytskyi College of Economics and Law and first-year students of the Institute, who demonstrated their knowledge, language skills, and creative thinking. This stage became an opportunity for participants to showcase their achievements and gain valuable experience in mastering the Ukrainian language.

The purpose of the competition is to promote and support the Ukrainian language among young people, encourage its study, and preserve the nation’s linguistic heritage. Holding this competition is an important contribution to the preservation and promotion of Ukraine’s intangible cultural heritage.

4. The IAPM conducts Ukrainian language exams for civil servants to assess their proficiency in the state language required for performing official duties. These exams ensure that public officials meet the language standards established by national legislation, promoting effective and professional communication in the public sector.

The purpose of these exams is to strengthen the role of the Ukrainian language in public administration, support its proper use in official communication, and foster respect for Ukraine’s linguistic and cultural identity.

5. The All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Ukrainian Language and Nation: Development Prospects in the Era of Globalization” was held at the Khmelnytskyi Institute of IAPM on October 29, 2024. The event brought together students, teachers, and scholars from various educational institutions to discuss key linguistic and cultural issues in modern Ukraine.

The purpose of the conference was to exchange ideas on preserving and developing the Ukrainian language amid globalization and to emphasize its importance as a foundation of national identity.

The Spiritual and Educational Center named after the Holy Apostles of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (IAPM) studies the role of religion in Ukrainian and global civil society, religious diversity, the politics of the religious market, and the qualitative development of multicultural communities. It also focuses on building joint research networks and partnerships with international research institutions.

We conduct studies on international conflicts caused by religion, as well as issues related to religious refugees and religious tensions in multicultural societies.

Projects to record and preserve cultural heritage of displaced communities
