Tracking food waste on campus can be an effective way to reduce environmental impact, raise student awareness and promote sustainable development. In order to ensure sustainable development, IAPM monitors the amount of food waste generated at the Academy and strives to reduce it. The Academy has 3 canteens and 2 cafeterias, where only food is distributed and consumed, and food waste is controlled by the supplier in accordance with the concluded contracts. One of the restaurants of IAPM Panorama is actively working to reduce food waste by constantly weighing it and adapting the supply to meet real needs. The restaurant has installed a food waste shredder to better recycle waste to reduce the amount.
To keep track of food waste on the Academy's campus, IAPM has established a Waste Management Commission. Within the framework of the Food Waste Management program, the negative impact of waste on the environment is reduced, and value-added waste is used to grow the economy. Waste-free processes have been implemented under the guidance of the Commission. Thanks to the inspection of the Holosiivskyi District State Administration in Kyiv, IAPM received a letter of appreciation for the implementation of the “Project for the Implementation of Separate Collection of Household Waste in the Capital”.
As part of the activities of the Waste Management Commission, IAPM conducted separate waste collection in order to establish accurate measurement of food waste. As a result, the Commission published the results of these measurements.
IAPM pays special attention to food waste generated during the consumption of food by students living on campus. First of all, the Academy monitors the amount of waste per person on campus over the years. Please see the table and chart below.

Due to the military operations that took place near Kyiv in 2022, the Academy worked online from March to August.
Food waste was not measured from March 2020 to 2021, as the educational process was conducted online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
