Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (IAPM) actively promotes the sustainable and conscious use of water on campus.
IAPM promotes conscious water usage on campus through water-efficient appliances on campus. The Academy uses water-efficient appliances to minimize water usage on campus. These include water sprinklers and drip irrigation systems, water-efficient commodes, low-flow automatic taps, water dispensers, and more.
Water-Conscious Initiatives
The IAPM also promotes conscious water usage on campus through water-conscious initiatives such as the Ablution Water Reuse System and the Rainwater Harvesting System.
As a result, over 5O% of our water usage is from recycled and stormwater harvesting. This water is deployed across our campus network to irrigate our playing fields and gardens. The water is safe for irrigation, but is not of drinking water quality standards.

Interregional Academy of Personnel Management adopts a native vegetation approach to campuses, including:
The Academy selects native plants for its campuses to minimise water usage, leveraging the drought-tolerant properties of these species to create a sustainable and resilient landscape.
The Interregional Academy of Personnel Management prioritizes water-conscious planting across its wide landscapes by focusing on native species, drought-tolerant plants, and grass-type plants that require minimal water. During the rainy seasons, these plants generally need no additional watering, and in the dry season, they require only occasional irrigation. Furthermore, the landscapes are irrigated using water-efficient sprinklers and drip irrigation systems to further reduce the water usage.
By selecting resilient plant species that thrive in low-water conditions, IAPM contributes to environmental conservation and ensures the long-term sustainability of our green spaces.

The Academy also promotes conscious water usage on campus through organizing awareness events.
World Water Day 2024
World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, is an annual United Nations Observance focusing on the importance of freshwater. World Water Day is a UN day of action intended to encourage progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation. There can be no peace in our world without access to safe and clean drinking water. On World Water Day, we highlight the central role that water plays in shaping our lives and future.
As part of the Academy’s outreach efforts, the Bureau of Promotion of Sustainable Development Goals and several departments collaborated to organize IAPM’s World Water Day 2024. This annual event serves as our primary outreach program focused on sustainable water management, featuring multiple free and open activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of clean water globally and promoting effective water management practices. Lecturers of the Department of Economics, Management, and Tourism held a series of free open lectures and master classes, which were dedicated to discussing the organization’s work and emphasizing the critical importance of access to clean water, effective water management, and the severe consequences of poor sanitation and a lack of clean water.
4 times a year the IAPM organized a Water Conservation Campaign. The aim of IAPM events is to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation while simultaneously engaging the students in active participation to clean local water bodies and surrounding areas, promoting environmental sustainability. Every time participants were engaged in a cleaning campaign to clean the surroundings of water bodies to conserve the water resources.
Water Management Policy of Interregional Academy of Personnel Management includes:
The Interregional Academy of Personnel Management has placed of informative awareness signs near taps, water coolers, dispensers, kitchens and various water-using appliances. These signs are designed to raise awareness and encourage responsible water usage.
Obligation Interregional Academy of Personnel Management щодо conscious use of water on campus are prescribed in:
To reduce potable water consumption across our campuses, all new buildings comply with sustainable standards, including the application of water-conscious building standards outlined in the IAPM’s building design standards. These standards include the provision of water reuse requirements in accordance with building and wastewater codes. Standards include the water use minimisation measures (using flow restriction fixtures and reduced water pressure on taps), and rainwater capture and reuse systems, to maximise water reuse across the Academy.
Over the past 4 years, the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management has built 3 new buildings (an academic building, a dormitory, and a sports complex) and renovated the other 3 academic buildings exclusively according to new construction projects in accordance with Water-conscious building standards. Various methods of water minimization are used, including low-flow devices. The construction of all new buildings of the Academy complies with water efficiency methods for indoor water use in accordance with all requirements of the State Building Standards DBN V.2.5.-74:2013 “Water supply, external networks and facilities” approved by the order of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine dated 08.04.2013 No. 133 and dated 28, in accordance with the Rules for the Protection of Surface Waters from Pollution by Wastewater approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 25, 1999, No. 465.

Water Use Efficiency in Building Projects:
Moreover, water meters were installed in all buildings of IAPM. The water meters provide real-time monitoring, enabling early identification of areas of over-consumption and leakage, minimising water wastage and associated costs. Meters also provide valuable data on consumption patterns, helping to identify inefficiencies and optimisation opportunities.
