The Interregional Academy of Personnel Management's policy on construction requires that all new buildings be constructed at a minimum in accordance with Water-conscious building standards. Various methods of water minimization are used, including low-flow devices. The construction of all new buildings of the Academy complies with water efficiency methods for indoor water use in accordance with all requirements of the state building standards DBN V.2.5.-74:2013 “Water supply, external networks and facilities” approved by the order of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine dated 08.04.2013 No. 133 and dated 28. In accordance with the Rules for the Protection of Surface Waters from Pollution by Wastewater approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 25, 1999, No. 465.
In particular, in January 2022, the Academy started the construction of 2 new buildings: one academic building and one dormitory, which are now at the final stage.
Our measures include innovative initiatives such as low-cost water supply systems, preservation and restoration of local natural ecosystems, use of bio-lagoons on the IAPM campus, planting of native plant species, and inclusion of adaptive and drought-resistant plants to reduce the need for additional watering. In addition, the Academy has created bioretention areas to manage rainwater. The water runoff is designed to reduce pollution from construction by controlling soil erosion and sedimentation of waterways. Rainwater flows through drainage pipes, which are further connected to wells and boxes. The recycled treated water is stored in tanks and then pumped to tanks through separate pipelines for use in the rinsing system. For gardening, separate pipelines from the tanks are laid, connected to sprinklers installed on the campus. Sensor taps have been installed in all blocks of both new buildings to minimize water use to avoid wastage. Automation work is ongoing in other blocks.
These measures together demonstrate our commitment to reducing water consumption and implementing sustainable building practices that optimize water use on campus.
