Interregional Academy of Personnel Management provide educational opportunities for local communities to learn about good water management.
Research Center for Environmental Safety and Sustainable Development of the IAPM actively engages local community of Kyiv through various educational programs and outreach initiatives aimed at promoting good water management practices.
For example, by conducting activities under the Comprehensive Urban Target Program for Environmental Well-being of the City of Kyiv for 2022-2025 address critical issues like water pollution, raising awareness about preserving water resources.
The problem of regulating the drainage of surface runoff into the city's stormwater network and its discharge into open water bodies remains extremelly relevant for Kyiv. There are at least 400 ponds in Kyiv. The number of ponds are polluted with petroleum products, which is caused by the growing number of vehicles and by the existance of gas stations and fuel and lubricant unloading points without local treatment facilities in the territory of the Kyiv River Port.
Researchers of the Research Center for Environmental Safety and Sustainable Development of the IAPM educate representatives and ecologists of the local community of Kyiv how to reduce anthropogenic load on the city's water ponds. The load is caused by pollution of inland ponds with industrial wastewater and surface runoff. The Center's researchers also emphasize the need to expand the volumes of recycled water consumption and reuse of wastewater, create closed technological production facilities, and use highly effective modern methods of wastewater treatment.
In addition, each year, students, under the guidance of IAPM lecturers, conduct 3-4 clean-up campaigns on the Dnipro River and activities aimed at solving critical problems such as water pollution, raising awareness about water conservation.

The Ecological Club at the IAPM’s Yagotyn Institute has been established exclusively to promote water resource conservation and social orientation.
For example, in 2024, as part of the Ecological Club, students and teachers of IAPM’s Yagotyn Institute, together with employees of the Yagotyn City Council administration of the Kyiv region, visited the complex of water extraction and water conservation infrastructure of the city of Yagotyn.
They got acquainted with the detailed study of drinking water, its purification from excessive metals (ferric ions), raising water from a depth of 103 meters, chlorination using table salt. The laboratory that carries out multi-level water research was impressive.
Based on the collected information and the IAPM's data, scientists in the field of good water management held a training seminar on November 28, 2024 on the topic "Living Water" for ecologists and representatives of the local community and local authorities on improving water management in the territory of the Yagotyn community.
